The National Archives of Georgia will host the 5th Tbilisi International Archival Film Festival from October 27 to 31.
This year’s theme, Memory Restored: Archives in the Age of Technology, highlights the process of preserving, restoring, and reinterpreting cinematic memory within archives through digital transformation, restoration, and modern technologies. In the contemporary era, the digitization of archival films of historical and cultural value gives them new life and returns them to cinema screens.
The festival welcomes submissions of archival films preserved in archival, museum, library, and other institutional collections in Georgia and abroad.
The National Archives established the Tbilisi International Archival Film Festival in 2022. Its aim is to introduce Georgian audiences to the world’s cinematic heritage preserved in archival, museum, and library collections in Georgia and other countries.
